The eye is ball shaped. In front of the lens is the curtain called iris. At the center of the iris is an opening called pupil through which light rays enter the lens. In front of the lens is a small compartment and behind it a larger compartment. Both contain fluid.
The sclera is the dense, white protective covering of the eye. The conjunctiva is a transparent mucous membrane covering the inside of the eyelids and the front part of the sclera.
The sensitive lining inside the eyeball - the retina acts like a photo film. It picks up light impulses and sends them to the brain through the optic nerve to produce visual images.
Vitamins particularly A and E are considered to be beneficial to the eyes.
